If Trump befriends Russia, Caucasus will automatically become less important for him – John Varoli

Speaking with Alpha News, US political commentator John Varoli commented on the talks between the US and Russia and US President Donald Trump’s approaches to foreign policy.
“We are already seeing dramatic changes in US foreign policy that have not been seen for almost 40 years, when Ronald Reagan was in power. Trump is following Ronald Reagan’s footsteps. Reagan was a courageous man, Trump is also courageous and he is ready to compromise. He is ready to negotiate with a country that the US considers its enemy, unfortunately. Reagan had enough courage, Trump has it too, but unfortunately, there are many liberals in the US. They are against peace and want to continue the war and conflict.
Therefore, Trump will first have to deal with the enemies at home. This is precisely the internal enemy, the liberal force. This is the most ardent enemy not only of the United States but also of the American people. The American people elected Trump because they want peace, they want to stop conflicts, and we are already seeing the first results, but this is only the beginning of the process. I do not expect any quick solution, unfortunately. Trump is under enormous pressure from hostile internal forces. He will still have to fight this,” Vanoli said.
Varoli noted that the very fact of communication between the US and Russia is a very big achievement amid the Russophobic policy of the US over the last century.
“The fact that the two countries are talking is already a big victory. It may not seem like such a big victory, but it is a really big victory because the Washington elite has had strong Russophobic sentiments towards Russia for 100 years. And especially over the past 10 years, we have seen a level of hatred towards Russia that never existed even during the Cold War. Even in the 1950s and 1960s, there was nothing like this.
The past 10 years have been a very difficult, dark time in American history, especially the past 4 years and the Biden administration, who was the most terrible, the worst president in the history of the United States. This is a man who actually established a totalitarian regime. The United States has never seen anything like this: hundreds, even several thousand political prisoners, strict censorship, war against Russia and other countries, economic wars and genocide in Palestine. He was an absolutely terrible man,” the expert emphasized.
According to John Varoli, the United States under Trump looks at other countries in terms of its economic benefit, and bases its foreign policy on this.
“What is Trump’s main motivation? He really wants to do everything that is beneficial for the United States. He wants a great America, he wants to achieve greater benefits for the United States, and he looks at each region without ideology, without cunning. He just thinks like this: there is some country—it doesn’t matter which one, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Europe—and he thinks, ‘What can we get from this country? We are the most powerful, we can offer you something, but what will you offer us in return?’ This is what Trump is guided by.
And what can Armenia offer in economic terms? The Caucasus region is interesting because it is located next to Iran, which has been the main enemy of the United States for almost 40 years. Therefore, the Caucasus region is strategically very important for Washington,” he said.
“The US always wants to build some military base and looks at a specific country with the idea of whether to build a military base there because its enemies are nearby. So it looks at Armenia or Azerbaijan, which of them will offer the US a place for a military base? But that was the case under Biden. And now Trump says that we do not want to be such a belligerent power, we do not want a war. He wants to cut costs, reduce the US military presence around the world. If this is so, then the Caucasus region becomes less important.
If Trump is friends with Russia, then the Caucasus automatically becomes less of a priority for Trump and the White House,” the American expert concluded.
