Erosion of homeland and desecration of Christianity underway — Alen Ghevondyan

Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Alen Ghevondyan described Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan as a spiritual leader with a sharp, objective and consistent speech. According to him, the current events are tied to a number of other political circumstances.

“Mikayel Ajapahyan has always been straightforward. When the homeland is eroded and Christianity desecrated—when Armenia faces an existential threat—some spiritual leaders move beyond their traditional religious vocabulary and begin speaking the language of the real political field. The time of romanticism has long passed,” Ghevondyan said.

He also added that the authorities, naturally, attempted to exploit the situation to their advantage.
