Trump needs meeting with Pashinyan and Aliyev for his reputation – Pavel Dubravskiy
Speaking with Alpha News, political strategist and head of Dubravskiy Consulting Pavel Dubravskiy commented on what to expect from the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan with US President Donald Trump.
“First of all, I would consider this meeting Armenia’s attempt to enter a new orbit, a new sphere of influence, namely, the American one. Because we see that relations with Russia today are of a completely different nature, and Armenia is trying to distance itself from Russian influence. And, of course, relations with Azerbaijan will probably be discussed here, and both countries can gain the attention and support of Donald Trump. In this case, Trump will be able to publicly announce that he has reconciled two more countries, resolved another conflict, and will still be able to claim the Nobel Prize,” Dubravskiy said.
According to the political strategist, for Azerbaijan and Armenia, this is an attempt to secure US support, while for Trump, it is a reputational story.
“It seems to me that for Azerbaijan and Armenia this is an attempt to secure the support of the United States, and for the US this is primarily a reputational and international story that Trump will ‘sell’ to his audience and his voters, since, let me remind you, the Republican Party will have very important elections next year,” Dubravskiy concluded.
