Political crisis in France will last indefinitely – Alexey Mukhin
Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Alexey Mukhin commented on the recent resignation of the French government and its potential consequences.
“The replacement of the French Prime Minister is rather an internal matter to calm the public. It is hard to imagine Emmanuel Macron introducing a new or unexpected candidate for the role. Now he faces very difficult work with the parliament to approve this candidate. I am afraid the political crisis in France may persist for an indefinite period,” the expert said.
According to the expert, the reshuffle in the French government will not lead to changes in foreign policy.
“I believe that this will not affect the external agenda in any way. France has certain difficulties with financing foreign policy activity. It has not yet resolved them. It should be taken into account that there is no systemic solution to the problems of France and its economy. This worsens the situation, the atmosphere around the government, but at the same time Emmanuel Macron demonstrates extreme, such a strong confidence that he is on the right path, and he does not intend to turn away from it,” Alexey Mukhin concluded.
