Interior Ministry spokesperson withholds details on Parakar murder case ‘so as not to hinder investigation’

Narek Sargsyan, spokesperson for Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, spoke with Alpha News about the preliminary investigation into the murder of the head of the Parakar community.
“A preliminary investigation is underway. I would ask you to contact the Investigative Committee. The police are continuing operational and investigative measures to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. That’s all I can say at the moment,” he stated.
When asked by Alpha News whether there are any suspects in the case, the spokesperson replied, “At this moment, I cannot provide any additional details so as not to hinder the investigation.”
Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that on September 23 at 11:52 PM, a report was received by the police about gunshots heard on Yerevan Highway in the village of Merdzavan, Armavir Province. Preliminary information indicates two people were killed and one injured. One of the deceased was Volodya Grigoryan, head of the Parakar community. Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan told reporters that the second victim was police officer Karen Abrahamyan, a friend of Grigoryan, who was off duty at the time. The injured man, Artsrun Galstyan, has undergone surgery and is in stable condition.
