Aliyev legitimizes ‘Zangezur corridor’ concept – Alen Ghevondyan

Aliyev has once again used the term “Zangezur corridor”, emphasizing its significance as a new transportation artery and a second route. Alpha News discussed this matter with political scientist Alen Ghevondyan. He noted that Aliyev’s statement carries a clear message.

“If we consider the issue in the context of opening regional communications, there is no specific detail on how Armenia will connect with Russia or Iran through Azerbaijani territory,” Ghevondyan said.

According to the political scientist, the Armenian Prime Minister’s inability to defend the country’s interests is evident.

Aliyev, as the political scientist pointed out, is legitimizing the concept of the “Zangezur corridor.”

Commenting on the statement made by Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan during a press conference—that the road could be named the “Trump Route” and certain changes could be introduced—Ghevondyan said, “Any project must take shape, considering the interests of the region. Iran and the US have incompatible interests, but Iran is of vital importance for Armenia. Of course, the name doesn’t matter; the content does.”
