Clergy are just tool for current prime minister – Alen Ghevondyan

The current prime minister’s target is not the clergy themselves or the problems surrounding them; his goal is to discredit the Church, political scientist Alen Ghevondyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

“The prime minister is playing his own game. The clergy must understand that they are merely a tool that will be discarded once it is no longer needed,” Ghevondyan said.

According to him, the Armenian Apostolic Church is an autonomous and sovereign institution. “We must understand that the Catholicos and institutional Christian values are central to our identity,” he emphasized.

Ghevondyan further noted that the current developments are no coincidence. “To break the Diaspora, you need to break the Church. And to break the Church, they use various compromising materials against different individuals,” he added.
