Our assessment of absurd actions of Cassation Court is perfectly clear – Aram Vardevanyan

Together with colleagues, today we filed cassation appeals against the December 11 decision of the Court of Appeal, which rejected both our appeals and those of the Prosecutor’s Office, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan said on Facebook.

“Our assessment of the absurd actions of the Cassation Court is perfectly clear, and it is obvious that in the case of Samvel Karapetyan this is not a mechanism for protecting rights at all. Moreover, we have submitted a specific report with facts regarding the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the judges of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Cassation Court.

I remind you that on November 18, 2025, the Anti-Corruption Court extended for two months the clearly unlawful detention of Samvel Karapetyan, citing the alleged ‘intensity of the case’ and investigators’ promises about the ‘need to take measures.’

The reality is that there is still no ‘intensity,’ no actions involving Samvel Karapetyan are being carried out, despite our repeated demands. There is only more than six months of unlawful, politically ordered persecution – arrest,” the lawyer said.
