A protest was held a short while ago outside the National Assembly in support of Armenian political prisoners and captives held in Baku.

Speaking to journalists, Garnik Danielyan, a member from the “Armenia” parliamentary faction, stated that today clergymen, political figures, representatives of various social groups, civic activists, and journalists are imprisoned for one reason: because they criticized the authorities or, through their sharp words and speeches, created uncomfortable situations for them.

“It is not enough that all these people are being unlawfully kept in penitentiary institutions, their rights are also being violated. And all this is happening with the silent consent of international organizations and the West. That is why we are here today to raise our voice of protest, to say that Armenia is turning from a semi-authoritarian regime into a dictatorship,” the MP said.
