Pyotr Kolchin, a political analyst and military expert, commented to Alpha News on the negotiation process between Iran and the United States and how the situation in the Middle East may affect Armenia.

“The pressure tools that Trump so actively promoted and replicated are not achieving their goals: Iran feels strong, is advancing its demands, and has no intention of backing down. Of course, the prospects of another escalation are already visible on the horizon. And the greatest reputational costs in this regard will be borne by the country that fires the first shot. Most likely, that country could be the United States, because it has often been the White House that authorized various kinds of adventurous operations,” Kolchin said.

According to the expert, “Trump’s road” has become a Trojan horse that is turning Armenia into a transit corridor for Azerbaijan and Turkey.

“Regardless of the outcome of the negotiations and the conflict in the Middle East itself, Armenia faces risks, as its position in the region is weakening. ‘Trump’s road’ has become a Trojan horse that is undermining relations between Yerevan and Tehran, turning Armenia into a transit corridor for Azerbaijan and Turkey. Under these conditions, both a strengthening of the United States and a strengthening of Iran will work against the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people. In this context, Pashinyan’s diplomatic course is leading only to the weakening of the country,” Kolchin concluded.
