Azerbaijan’s military spending was three times higher than Armenia’s in 2018–2025: Levon Kocharyan

“According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Armenia’s military spending totaled $3.33 billion between 1998 and 2008, while Azerbaijan’s totaled $7.35 billion, a gap of roughly 2.2 times. Between 2018 and 2025, that gap reached three times,” said Levon Kocharyan, an MP from the “Armenia” faction, during his speech in parliament, commenting on the disparity between Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s military budgets.

The MP stressed that the ruling political force constantly tries to exploit events from the past, such as the March 1 or October 27 events, to avoid responsibility for current problems and dodge questions on pressing issues on the agenda.

“When we talk about today’s injustices, you bring up stories from twenty or thirty years ago. We ask: is it possible that Tigranashen could end up under Azerbaijani control, there’s no direct answer. You’ve been in power for eight years now, you have every lever available, but whenever there’s nothing to say on a specific topic, you keep going back to the past,” Levon Kocharyan noted.
