Unknown persons stabbed to death a monk of the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the UOC
A group of unknown persons attacked the brethren of the Holy Mountains Dormition Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and stabbed to death monk Varsonofy. The Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) reported this on its Telegram channel.
“The attack occurred around 11 a.m. near the St. Nicholas Church in the upper part of the monastery. Monk Varsonofy was brutally killed with a knife, and his face was disfigured beyond recognition,” the report says.
The UOJ added that as a result of the attack, novice Andrey and monk Grigory were also injured; Grigory had a lung pierced with a knife. They were taken to one of the hospitals in Kharkiv in serious condition. Operational and investigative measures are currently underway, the union noted.
