Giving up Russian gas would be far more painful for Armenia than for Germany or other European countries. This is stated in comments by Alexey Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council.

“There is no doubt that giving up Russian ‘blue fuel’ would be far more painful for Armenia than for Germany or other European countries,” he noted, commenting on a statement by Armen Simonyan, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, that the country would purchase gas “from anywhere it can.”

Russian gas is significantly cheaper for Armenia than purchases from other countries, officials at Russia’s Security Council said.
