Opposition lawmaker Mesrop Manukyan told reporters during the kiosk owners’ protest on Yerevan’s Shinararneri Street that the rule of law must prevail in Armenia.
“If there is a lawful court ruling, you have no right to treat it as invalid… I can say that my father-in-law has a property certificate and is entitled to conduct lawful business. By the same logic, I have such a certificate too. This has been discussed from the National Assembly rostrum for a year now. So are people just supposed to walk away?” the lawmaker said.
According to Manukyan, if there is a lawful court ruling, it must be enforced, and any issues related to its non-enforcement must be resolved in the manner prescribed by law.
“A court ruling is not at your discretion,” the lawmaker stressed.
