Liana Manukyan, lawmaker from the Strong Armenia faction, said at a press conference titled “Corruption instead of improving the quality of life of Armenia’s citizens” that they welcome the holding of COP17 and any prestigious international conference in Armenia, which can raise the country’s profile and increase its appeal to tourists, but that this does not mean there should be unjustified spending.

According to the lawmaker, the day before she presented an example of one contract to show what illogical expenses it provided for. She noted that the contract provided for the purchase of special packaging at 25,000 drams per unit.

“I want to understand what we are packaging, and in what, if one unit costs 25,000 drams. And this is when prices for all the other items are already inflated. We are talking about 400 pieces of such packaging, and on top of that, another 19 million drams are provided for unforeseen expenses,” Manukyan said.
