Donald Trump, President of the United States, has posted a photo of a cap reading “veto” after media projections that both chambers of the US Congress will come under Democratic control.

He had earlier said that if the Democrats won, he would veto legislation until lawmakers agreed to a deal.

The US Democratic Party will win a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate following the midterm congressional elections, according to a projection by Bloomberg.

On the Senate seat map published by the agency, the Democrats have reached 51 seats. This would give them an outright majority in the 100-seat upper chamber of Congress.

Before the elections, the Republicans controlled the Senate with 53 seats against 47 held by the Democrats and the independent senators who caucus with them. To win a majority, the Democrats needed to take at least four seats from the Republicans while holding on to all of their own.

According to media projections, the Democratic Party will also win control of the House of Representatives. By Bloomberg’s count, it has flipped eight seats from the Republican Party, twice as many as it needed for a majority.
