A concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff was held at Carnegie Hall in New York. The event was organized by the Cultural Exchange Foundation, whose president is Konstantin Orbelian.

Orbelian stressed that the power of music could help overcome the crisis in Russian-American relations.

“Music is an international, interethnic and interfaith language. There are no barriers to music,” he said.

When asked about the threat of “banning Russian composers,” Orbelian assured that this would not happen.

“Our composers—Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, and Myaskovsky—no one has exterminated or destroyed them, and this will never happen,” he said.

Orbelian noted that concerts dedicated to Rachmaninoff’s 150th anniversary will be held in other US cities. He expressed hope that the events will be held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Boston, Chicago and Washington.
