Russia’s task today is to help Armenia and Azerbaijan reach a stable trajectory of reconciliation and peaceful interaction, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.
“The role of Russia in Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization has no alternative. This role is great and unique, in particular the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” Galuzin said.
The diplomat noted that the parties have a general understanding of how to restore railway communication in the region.
Russia offers its advice on border delimitation based on available topographic materials.
Galuzin emphasized that Russia continues to provide active assistance to the parties within the framework of the peace process. He stressed Moscow’s readiness to provide a platform for negotiations on a peace treaty.
“We hope that Yerevan will understand that the most reliable path to Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization is the fulfillment of trilateral agreements rather than efforts to involve extra-regional players, primarily the United States and the European Union, whose activities are aimed not at promoting normalization but at pushing Russia out of this process,” Galuzin said.
