The festival of Armenian gata was organized at the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) Church in Akhalkalaki, Georgia, to celebrate the Median Day of Great Lent, also known as Mijink.

In addition to sweet traditional Armenian gata, salty gata was baked on this occasion so that the fasting parishioners could also taste it. The Zartonk ethnic dance ensemble performed for the churchgoers. All attendees received gifts and certificates from the godfather of the church, Arthur Petrosyan.

Mijink is the 24th day or the fourth Wednesday of the period of Great Lent.

According to folk tradition, housewives bake unleavened cake and put a coin in it. The year will be successful for those who get a piece of cake with the coin.
