The celebration of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ was accompanied by traditional Armenian songs and dances near the churches of Surb Echmiadzin and Surb Gevorg.

Vardavar, or the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ, is the third of the five major feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church. In the 6th century, Catholicos Movses II included the Feast of Transfiguration into the Easter cycle. It is celebrated on the 14th Sunday following Easter.
