Armenia is ready to continue the border delimitation process with Azerbaijan and sign a peace treaty as soon as possible, Armenian parliament vice speaker Ruben Rubinyan said during the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
According to him, about 12 kilometers of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border line have already been delimited, and the border services of both sides have been deployed at the respective sections of the border.
“Armenia has no claims outside its internationally recognized territory and is ready for constructive and intensive work to continue the delimitation process and to complete and sign the peace treaty as soon as possible,” Rubinyan said.
He added that Armenia is “interested in becoming a part of international transit routes by unblocking regional communications.”
“There is no doubt that large infrastructure projects in the South Caucasus can become a unifying factor for the countries of the region. The restoration and opening of transport routes in the South Caucasus should lead to the formation of a sustainable regional model of the system of economic relations,” he said.
Rubinian said that the Armenian government has developed and presented the Crossroads of Peace project to unblock all regional communications.
“With this project, we reaffirm our sincere interest and political will to unblock all transport links. It aims to improve ties between the countries of the region by restoring the construction and operation of highways, railways, pipelines, cables, and power lines, thereby opening up new opportunities for the movement of goods,” he said, adding that by uniting the interests of all parties, it will be possible to obtain a historic opportunity to create prerequisites for cooperation and prosperity in the entire region.
