The parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7, the turbulent pre-election campaign that preceded them, and the post-election developments continue to remain at the center of public attention. On this topic and other key issues, Alpha News spoke with Vigen Sosikyan, public figure.

Commenting on the June 7 vote, Sosikyan described what happened not as a democratic process but as a pre-arranged scenario whose sole purpose was to extend Nikol Pashinyan’s hold on power.

“The most accurate description is that a theft took place. Everything possible was done to produce the outcome seen today. He noted that Pashinyan wanted more, having warned of inevitable war if he did not secure a constitutional majority, and that although this goal was not fully achieved, every form of lawlessness, intimidation, and falsification was used to ensure his own continuation in power,” – the public figure noted.

According to him, electoral processes in Armenia have long gone beyond the bounds of democracy, and the position of Western democratic countries and their leaders is even more concerning.

“The West, Europe, and even senior American circles not only turned a blind eye to all this but themselves became participants in the theft by offering every kind of support, adding that they clearly see what kind of dictatorship is forming in Armenia yet continue to back Pashinyan in order to protect their own geopolitical interests,” Sosikyan stressed.
