Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with blogger Olga Blagoveshchenskaya that Armenia and Russia are bound by a special relationship rooted in shared history, intertwined families, joint projects, business ties, and interwoven destinies.
“For us, Armenia is not just a sovereign state. Of course, it is that — a sovereign, independent state with ancient roots and a remarkable culture. But it is also a state with which we share a special relationship due to our common history, intertwined families, joint projects, business ties, and interwoven destinies. On our part, there has only ever been help and support, which, in my view, has been tied both to geopolitical factors, as diplomats say, and to what I call love. Genuine love between our peoples and cultures, they’ve grown into one another, these are the real bonds,” she emphasized.
Zakharova also recalled the personal contribution of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, during difficult periods, particularly amid bloody wars. She also noted the countries’ cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and industry. “This is our approach, and it’s one we hold to.”
