A conference ‘Armenian Cultural Heritage: Past, Present and Future’ was recently held in Glendale. The event featured speeches and presentations by Armenian community activists, writers, artists, lawyers and others.

“My speech was about the city of Ani. Recently, a joint effort between the Gulbenkian Foundation and a Turkish organization created the Ani App, which presents the whole history of Ani as well as the churches in a very interesting way,” Heghnar Van Pal from UC Davis told Alpha News.

Hamlet Petrosyan, head of the YSU Department of Culture, devoted his report to Artsakh’s cultural heritage and research issues.

“I headed an archaeological expedition to study Tigranakert in Artsakh for many years, and my report is devoted to the problems of studying the cultural heritage of Artsakh. We formed a group and created the trilingual Monument Watch website. Today it is the world’s most comprehensive academic portal on Artsakh’s Armenian cultural heritage. I presented how we created it, the situation that currently exists in Artsakh regarding this heritage, what measures we are taking today, and what our hopes are in this issue,” Petrosyan told Alpha News.
