The CIS observer mission has begun monitoring electoral processes in Armenia. The members were issued accreditation certificates by the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia.
The mission comprises around 120 people in total, 8 of whom will carry out observation on a long-term basis. The observers conduct their work on the principles of political neutrality and non-interference in the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state. This was stated by Nurlan Seitimov, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, in a conversation with journalists.
According to him, the most important components of the observation process will be in-person meetings with the leadership of political parties and blocs, candidates for deputy, and official representatives of state bodies.
