Four years ago, on April 26, a motorcade accompanying Nikol Pashinyan fatally struck a pregnant woman, Sona Mnatsakanyan, at the Paronyan–Leo intersection in Yerevan. However, no one has yet been held criminally responsible.

This was stated by lawyer Tatevik Sogoyan during a discussion titled “Citizen and injustice in Armenia: the 4th anniversary of the death of Sona Mnatsakanyan.”

According to her, after the collision, not a single vehicle in the motorcade stopped to provide assistance; they continued moving at the same speed.

“Sona Mnatsakanyan was assisted by an ambulance that happened to be passing through the area. All claims that the prime minister personally ordered an ambulance to be called are not supported by any factual data in the case. As staff at the Nairi Medical Center reported, the woman was already dead when she was brought to the hospital,” the lawyer said.

Sogoyan also noted that claims suggesting Sona Mnatsakanyan was accompanied by a police officer who clearly instructed her not to cross the street at that intersection are not supported by the case materials.

“The claim that the intersection was properly blocked off so that no one could pass is also incorrect. According to video footage, at the moment when the prime minister’s motorcade was supposed to pass, a car appeared at the intersection and narrowly avoided a collision. This indicates that there was no proper regulation or closure. At the same time, assertions that Sona Mnatsakanyan was accompanied by a police officer who told her not to cross the street are not substantiated by the case materials,” Sogoyan emphasized.
