Distortion of historical truth is technique for manipulating people – Sergey Panteleev
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Sergey Panteleev commented on the statements made by Artsrun Hovhannisyan, head of the Command and Staff Institute at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy, about the Great Patriotic War in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, the absence of Armenian soldiers at the Victory Parade in Moscow, as well as the upcoming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul.
According to the expert, the distortion of historical truth is done to separate Armenia from Russia.
“We are now living in a time of changes in all geopolitical conflicts. It is obvious that Russia and the West are in a state of hybrid war, where the element of historical memory is a separate battlefield. We have already seen how people were initially surprised, and then more and more began to get used to the fact that the historical truth is distorted. These are techniques for manipulating large masses of people, and I would really not want these techniques to have the effect in our brotherly Armenia that they have had in our brotherly Ukraine.
It seems to me that we need to address our Armenian viewers and say that they should not be gullible, they should not take such humanitarian issues lightly, because there is such a wonderful phrase: ‘He who has no memory has no life.’ All these things are being done with one goal: to separate Armenia from Russia and then pit our nations against each other to use them in their own interests. The same thing happened with Ukraine, without a doubt. I do not see any alternative motives behind these actions. Moreover, Turkey is also a tool for solving other issues here, although it certainly gets its benefit, but it is still a tool for external manipulation,” Panteleev emphasized.
