Several months ago, Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, filed a civil rights complaint against Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The complaint was prompted by a video he published in which he linked large-scale healthcare fraud in Los Angeles to criminal groups allegedly connected to Armenians.

“Our office is reviewing information that Dr. Mehmet Oz recently targeted the Armenian-American community of Southern California, making racially charged fraud allegations against Armenian businesses, including one near a well-known bakery. Given the historical sensitivities involved, we take these allegations very seriously. Hate has no place in California,” wrote Gavin Newsom, Governor, on the social network X.

On this topic, Alpha News spoke with Marina Samson, head of the law firm Samson Law.

She noted that Mehmet Oz’s statements had not only criminal consequences, but also led to the freezing of operations of more than 500 businesses. According to Marina Samson, this dealt a serious economic blow to Armenian businesses and the Armenian community.

“A group of doctors was arrested. They were receiving millions of dollars in insurance payments but were not providing the corresponding services,” Samson emphasized.

According to her, detecting and preventing fraud is one of the priority areas of the US administration, and this process is overseen by JD Vance, Vice President of the United States.
