“I want to stay in Artsakh because I am in love with this country and all of you, because here is my home, because only here do my dreams and goals have meaning. We have given today to our children so that they can make their dreams come true in their homeland instead of going to someone else’s country to serve someone else’s dreams.”

This is what Shogher Sargsyan from Artsakh was saying on May 9 at the Renaissance Square of Stepanakert. Back then, under the blockade, Shogher did not even think that one day she would have to leave Stepanakert and her dreams behind.
Shogher, 23, is a TV host and actress. After being forcibly displaced from Artsakh, she still cherishes the hope that one day she will return to her homeland in pursuit of her dreams.

“My dreams were left in Artsakh, and only there those dreams have meaning. They are waiting for me. I believe that the day will come, and I will go after them, and they will come true. As soon as we liberate Artsakh and it becomes Armenian, our family is ready to return there, as long as we feel safe in our homeland,” Shogher tells Alpha News.

But Shogher is ready to pursue new dreams in her motherland; it is only a matter of time. Shogher is trying to start a new life in Yerevan after the displacement. She still does not have a stable job, but after moving to Armenia, she managed to go on tour to the United States with the Vahram Papazyan State Drama Theater of Stepanakert.

Speaking with Alpha News, Shogher tells about the difficult conditions of the blockade, the forced exodus from her homeland as a result of Azerbaijan’s attack on Artsakh, the long road, and settling in Armenia.
