Russian actress Irina Bezrukova: Armenian people have unique fortitude
Russian actress Irina Bezrukova told Alpha News about the filming of “Earthquake” (2016), in which she played the role of a flight attendant.
“When I was offered this role in the movie, there were no other roles left; the actors were already filming. But when I realized that this was a completely unique project, I happily accepted this offer. In this movie I play a flight attendant who appears at the very beginning, when the main character flies home to Armenia. By the way, the flight attendant’s costume was real, and it was very uncomfortable, so tight, heavy and stiff, so I felt like I was in the shoes of the flight attendants of the early 90s.
Residents of Gyumri also appeared in the movie, and it was very painful to imagine how it all really happened to them at the time of the tragedy, since many of them lost friends, loved ones, and relatives. The Armenian people have unique fortitude; they are united in the face of common grief. The producer of the project, Ruben Dishdishyan, offered me the role, and I am very grateful to him for this.
As for the movie itself, at the premiere, I simply burst into tears, and then for about 15 minutes, I could not leave the bathroom because I was crying, washing my face, and could not calm down. This movie touched me to the very depths of my soul, and I felt a sense of belonging with the people who found themselves in this tragedy, in the situation that happened then in Armenia,” the actress said.
