Sergey Melkonyan: Artsakh state bodies can operate from Armenia

The state bodies of Artsakh can continue their activities from the territory of Armenia and not dissolve Artsakh as a subject, PhD in History, Research Fellow at the ARPI Armenia Sergey Melkonyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

“If the government of Armenia or the government of Artsakh has the political will not to dissolve the Republic of Artsakh, then the state bodies of Artsakh can still operate from the territory of Armenia and not dissolve Artsakh as a subject,” he said.

According to Melkonyan, if the Artsakh government or the Artsakh National Assembly continues to function in the territory of Armenia, and all other institutions are preserved, then it will give an opportunity for the operation of these structures or their transfer to the Republic of Artsakh.

“However, it should be noted that the current authorities of the Republic of Armenia are not ready for such a step, because, according to them, it will be perceived by Turkiye as a threat,” Melkonyan said.
