The RA authorities couldn’t care less about centuries of Armenian-Russian friendship: a poll in Yerevan
Rosselkhoznadzor announced today that Russia will introduce temporary restrictions from May 30 on the import of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, and strawberries from Armenia, pending the development of a supply safety protocol. Alpha News conducted a street poll in Yerevan to gauge public opinion on the matter.
In the view of Yerevan residents, everything is interconnected, and if Armenia is heading toward the West, it is only natural that Russia should respond in kind.
“The only way out is to restore the normal relations we used to have with Russia. We have become a bargaining chip for everyone. I am not saying the Russians are perfect, no. But at least they will not slaughter us or cut off our heads,” one poll participant noted.
According to residents of the capital, the current Armenian authorities couldn’t care less about the centuries-long Armenian-Russian friendship.
“Our economy depends predominantly on the Russian market. We must continue to develop friendly relations through diplomatic means, because there simply is no other way,” one respondent stressed.
