Turkey will quickly fill the gap left by the Russian presence: Jamalyan
Armenia’s current authorities have long underestimated the possible consequences of the deterioration of Armenian-Russian relations, but the situation has now reached a dangerous point. Military expert David Jamalyan said this in a conversation with Alpha News. He also added that Turkey will very quickly fill the gap left by the Russian presence.
“Things have now come to the point where, if this government is returned to power, and I consider the chances of that minimal, we will very quickly witness the neutralization and dismantling of the Armenian-Russian military alliance,” Jamalyan said.
In the expert’s view, such a scenario would also put the question of the withdrawal of Russia’s 102nd Military Base, stationed in Armenia, on the agenda.
“The question of withdrawing the 102nd Military Base will be raised immediately, and the authorities will continue to push the policy of removing the Russian presence from Armenia,” he noted.
According to Jamalyan, such a course of events would have serious economic consequences for Armenia.
