West does not need Armenia, politician says
Andrey Klimov, Deputy Chair of Russia’s Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, commented to Alpha News on the statement by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia cannot develop defense cooperation only with Russia as it did before.
“It’s hard for me to imagine that the Armenian leader proposes such things on behalf of the Armenian people. At least, when he says that Armenia needs something, it is most likely not Armenia that needs it, but Nikol Pashinyan himself, his team, or those who are now manipulating him—those who benefit from it. But I’m not convinced that this is beneficial for the Armenian people—quite the contrary,” Klimov said.
According to Klimov, the West considers everything a colony.
“The West does not consider anyone a partner. It views everyone as part of a colony. If Armenia wants to be a colony, that’s a different question. There is a new colonial empire in the center of Washington. The more directly it speaks, the better. No one in this public considers direct cooperation with Armenia. It is only about power, about using Armenia as a battering ram, in this case, against Russia. They don’t need Armenia as such; they need to destabilize the situation in the Caucasus to cause additional tension for Russia. They don’t need anything else from Armenia, no matter what anyone says or imagines,” Klimov concluded.
