Young Armenian boxers return from the European Championship with 13 medals

The Armenian youth boxing team returned from the Junior European Cup held in Slovenia with 2 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals, armsport. am reported. It should be noted that 13 medals in this age group is a record in the history of Armenian boxing. Karen Zakharyan (50 kg) and Arsen Darbinyan (54 kg) were awarded the title of winners of the Junior Cup. Zakharyan won a landslide victory over Jason Maher from Ireland in the finals, while Darbinyan defeated the Romanian athlete with a score of 5-0.

Vice-champions of the Junior Cup were Hrach Khachatryan (80 kg), Lianna Zhamkharyan (44 kg), Hamest Afrikyan (46 kg) and Anahit Harutyunyan (48 kg). The remaining seven Armenian boxers won bronze: Astghik Khachatryan (36 kg), Gor Karapetyan (46 kg), Suren Katvalyan (48 kg), Arsen Karapetyan (60 kg), Felix Papikyan (63 kg), Volodya Kirakosyan (66 kg) and Aram Tumanyan (90 kg). The Armenian team went to the competition led by Artur Melkumyan, with Armen Baghdasaryan, Khachik Khachatryan and Artur Vardevaryan being part of the coaching staff.
