Russia, its neighbors, and closest allies will prosper by building a common economic space in Eurasia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said in an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta on the eve of EAEU Day.

He added that the end of globalization will not hinder but rather accelerate integration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to Overchuk, the processes taking place in post-Soviet countries have deeper roots than the framework of interaction defined by the EAEU law.

“In some ways it contributes to the development of integration, and in some ways it hinders it. Therefore, the joint advancement of the five Eurasian countries is a constant exploration of a possible path of coordinated development, based on mutual respect for interests and consensus-driven decision-making. GDP growth in the EAEU member states in recent years speaks for itself—4.4% for the EAEU as a whole in 2024. This is significantly higher than the global average rate estimated at 3.3%,” he added, noting that it is more profitable to develop the economy together with Eurasian partners than alone.
