Iran and Russia are taking steps against Baku; it’s unfortunate that Armenia lacks a national government – Isak Unanesian
Both Iran and Israel have inflicted heavy strikes on each other, and although operations are currently suspended, they could resume at any moment, Isak Unanesian, head of the Armenian National Committee in Tehran, said in an interview with Alpha News.
According to him, both countries are ready for a future war.
“Iran has the capacity to start its nuclear program, but recovery will take months. Let’s not forget that around 17 specialists involved in the nuclear program were targeted during this period, and restoring the program could take months. At this point, neither side can claim victory,” Unanesian said.
He noted that tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan are growing in the context of this conflict.
“Today I read a commentary by an Iranian expert who presented evidence that drones toward Iran’s northern regions were launched from the occupied territories of Artsakh,” he added.
Speaking about the problems in the Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan relations and their impact on Armenia, Unanesian remarked, “Iran and Russia are taking steps against Baku. It’s unfortunate that Armenia lacks a national government that could use this situation for the benefit of our people.”
According to him, Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Turkey was linked to the Iran-Israel war.
“Iran has always said that the so-called ‘Zangezur corridor’ is its red line and that it does not serve Armenia’s interests. If Armenia chooses to make a unilateral concession and hand over the corridor to Turkey and Azerbaijan, Iran will not be able to do anything about it. But if Azerbaijan and Turkey resort to military action, Iran will step in,” he added.
