Five-year-old prodigy Alec Van Khajadourian from Los Angeles is set to become the youngest performer ever to take the stage at Carnegie Hall.

Alec began piano lessons at the age of three and a half, and by the time he turned four, he was already performing works by Beethoven and Bach at recitals.

“He would walk over to the piano when he first started walking, punching a few notes, and you could just see this huge grin on his face,” said Alec’s father, Joe Khajadourian.

The young pianist also has perfect pitch—a rare ability found in roughly one in 10,000 people.

Alec is scheduled to perform on July 20.
