Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Vasily Koltashov commented on the direction of Russia-Armenia relations and the possible consequences.

“Armenia, led by the Pashinyan regime, is gradually severing all contacts with Russia. This applies to political, military, and diplomatic matters. But economically, Pashinyan remains dependent on cooperation with Russia: if Armenia’s economic relations with Russia were to suddenly cease, it would be forced to completely fall under the influence of Turkey and Azerbaijan, as it would no longer be able to exist economically in the region. And it is unclear what it would do with a whole range of agricultural products, or how the economy would survive in this case, since trade flows and company orders would not go through Armenia, but through other routes,” the expert noted.

According to the political scientist, Armenia is currently being directed and controlled by external forces that seek to distance the country from Russia.

“So, we are faced with a situation where, on the one hand, Pashinyan is gradually moving toward a break with Russia. On the other hand, he can’t help but deny it: he constantly denies it, saying he’s multi-vector, focused on Armenia’s interests. Meanwhile, the entire group of political scientists funded by the regime in Yerevan insist that the world is Armenia-centric, that they act solely on local interests, are under no influence from England, the United States, or France, and harbor no hostility toward Russia. But in reality, this is not the case—Armenia is directed and governed from the outside,” Koltashov said.
