‘Either they don’t want to fix the problem, or it benefits them’ – Garnik Danielyan on Armenian–Georgian relations and export issues

Garnik Danielyan, a member of the National Assembly’s “Armenia” faction, spoke with Alpha News about the current state of Armenian–Georgian relations, viewing them in the context of challenges faced by businesses.
According to the MP, while the full picture is not yet clear, it is evident that the traditionally friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia are currently going through a difficult phase, which is also reflected in recurring obstacles in the economic sphere.
“In my view, the deterioration of Armenian–Georgian relations is the result of misguided and shortsighted policies by the authorities. The traditionally friendly and partner-like relations between Armenia and Georgia are not in good shape now, and such cases repeatedly create problems in the Republic of Georgia,” he said.
Danielyan noted that the problems concern the export and import of alcoholic beverages, agricultural products, and other goods, as well as recurring difficulties in the liquefied gas sector.
Since February 12, Armenian truck drivers crossing the Russian–Georgian border at the Lars checkpoint have not been allowed to proceed to Armenia.
