Greek City Times published an article on the Medieval Map of Armenian monasteries and sanctuaries.
This carefully crafted artefact is not only a geographical document but also a visual depiction of Armenian history. The map was created in 1961 and discovered at the University of Bologna in 1991.
The creators of this remarkable achievement were Eremia Chelebi Keomiwrchean, Armenian poet and historian, and Luigi Ferdinando Marsili, Italian diplomat, cartographer and military man. The map reflects the significant influence of the Armenian Church in the late 17th century.

Keomiwrchean carefully depicted about 800 places on the map, including such significant religious centers as Etchmiadzin, Cilicia, the patriarchies of Jerusalem and Constantinople.

The map also covers vast historical territories of Armenia, from Artsakh to Constantinople, including Armenian monasteries and sanctuaries in Crimea.
