Hasmik Yengoyan, lawmaker from the Strong Armenia faction, said at a press conference that they are not against the idea of holding the COP17 climate conference itself, but against a waste of budget funds, with attendant corruption risks, under the guise of organizing and holding the event. She noted that the issue of possible corruption risks tied to the organization and holding of COP17 had been raised in the National Assembly.

According to Yengoyan, because of a lack of time during the parliamentary discussion, it was impossible to present to the public all the information they had gathered.

“We had only two minutes to speak, so we couldn’t make all the information public. We therefore decided it would be more effective to hold a press conference and present in more detail everything the Strong Armenia team has studied, analyzed and collected,” she said.
