Judges of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were sworn in during the ceremony held in Minsk, Belarus, today, TASS reported.

In accordance with the December 25, 2023 decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Erna Hayriyan and Arayik Tunyan from Armenia were appointed judges of the EAEU Court from January 1.

“Except for the honorable representative of Armenia [Erna Hayriyan], who hands over the powers of the President to Alexey Dronov and has remained in the previous composition of the court, all the rest are new people,” said Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko.

The mission of the Court is to ensure uniform application by the Member States and the bodies of the Union of the Treaty, international treaties within the Union, international treaties of the Union with a third party and decisions of the bodies of the Union.

The Court consists of two judges from each member state. The term of office of a judge is nine years.

The judges elect a President and a Vice-President of the Court for a non-renewable 3-year term, who are subsequently approved by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
