Hayk Kocharyan: The expansion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will pose very serious challenges for Armenia

The expansion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will pose very serious challenges for us, Hayk Kocharyan, Head of YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies, told Alpha News.

“If the scenario goes in a different direction and it is not possible to contain the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it will pose very serious challenges for us. Things are moving fast. The conflict is now localized. But if it turns into a regional problem, it will pose very serious challenges for us. Iran, which is one of the guarantors of security in the region, is involved in that situation,” Kocharyan said.

Kocharyan explained why the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated now.

“There are two serious problems for Israel. The first is that Israel is no longer safe. And secondly, it must answer for the number of victims, which is unprecedented. It will also affect the domestic political situation. Why did this conflict escalate right now? The reason is the tensions that exist in the Middle East, the destruction of security systems and the creation of new systems, as well as the technologies that will enable small armed groups to succeed by carrying out coordinated operations,” Kocharyan concluded.
