A recount of votes is currently underway, after which it will become known whether the Prosperous Armenia party will enter the National Assembly or not. Following that, the Strong Armenia party will issue a statement. This was announced by Narek Karapetyan, who heads the political force’s electoral list.
“I know that many people’s nerves are fraying, as we have put everything we have into this fight. I would like to say a few words about what we are working on right now. A recount is underway, and based on its results we will find out whether PAP enters parliament or not, and in that case we will understand whether the opposition in the National Assembly will have the ability to have its say in the election of the prosecutor general and other officials, after which we will issue a statement. Know that your interests are our top priority: if we can ensure that the opposition’s voice is taken into account in the appointment of court chairs, this will bring balance, and we will try to resolve the issue of political prisoners. And if not, if we see that nothing will come of it, we will then make a statement,” Karapetyan said.
According to him, there are two ways to change power: elections and street struggle through constitutional means.
“Through street struggle, a majority of National Assembly deputies must vote for an amendment. There is one point here: if historically just 8 deputies from the Civil Contract party change their position, Pashinyan will lose his seat. Of course, this will be difficult after the elections, but over the course of 5 years we see great opportunities here,” Karapetyan emphasized.
