Armenian Genocide international recognition is not our top priority – Ararat Mirzoyan
October 31 2024, 11:40
Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in the parliament that given that Armenia and Azerbaijan have ratified the Regulation on the Joint Work of Commissions on Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border, the sides will soon officially notify each other about the entry into force of this document.
“Then in the remaining months of 2024 or already in 2025, I hope we will continue the delimitation processes. I do not see any obstacles at the moment. Of course, the faster and more efficiently it happens, the better,” he said.
The foreign minister also noted that Armenia and Turkey are engaged in a dynamic and positive dialogue.
“The dialogue is conducted to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries, open the border, unblock transportation and other communications,” Mirzoyan said.
He added that the experts of both sides have carried out assessment of the infrastructure on the border, and the same assessment of the infrastructure of the Gyumri-Kars railroad section will be carried out soon.
The Armenian foreign minister also touched upon the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, noting that this matter is not the top priority for the foreign ministry.
“Speaking about the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as you can assume from the fact that I did not touch upon this matter when listing our priorities, it is not our primary task. The matter of examining the tragic pages of our history, the study of the Armenian Genocide, or turning this issue into the top priority is definitely not on the agenda of the Armenian foreign ministry,” he said.
