The Armenian government is not transparent when it does not report the consequences Azerbaijan’s attacks have on the country’s information security, information security expert Hovik Manucharyan told Alpha News.

“There are publications in the Armenian press about various attacks, and we can assess information security only by these publications. The Armenian government is not transparent about the consequences of, for example, information security attacks by Azerbaijan. We can mention publications related to the 2020 war when the server of one of the ministries was hacked, but this information never becomes publicly available for us to know, at least, what damage was done. But, judging by these publications, we can conclude that Armenia is currently facing a very serious challenge, and if the government does not take this into account, we will face an extremely serious threat,” Manucharyan said.

Speaking about the fight against disinformation, the expert said that today the information domain is the main platform for waging wars.

“The only way to combat disinformation is media literacy. It is necessary to make the public recognize what information it receives and whether it should be trusted or not. First, it is necessary to understand who published this information and to find the original source. All this should be done from school age. The government is obliged to educate a generation that can differentiate between truth and disinformation,” the expert concluded.
