Armenians in Montenegro are mainly engaged in business, Artur Hanesyan, the head of the Armenian community of Montenegro, told Alpha News.

“There are about 40 Armenian families living in Montenegro. Armenians here are mainly engaged in business. While an Armenian community existed in the country, it lacked unity, so two years ago we organized a meeting and elected a community leader,” the head of the Armenian community noted.

Discussing the community’s challenges, Hanesyan noted that there are no major issues, except for financial constraints, as members largely address problems on their own.

“We don’t have a big budget, we handle everything ourselves. There are 4-5 active people in the community who deal with existing problems. We personally transported a khachkar to Montenegro, we organize various events, we celebrate the New Year together, we work to introduce children to each other,” he noted.

Artur Hanesyan also emphasized that a liturgy was recently held to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
