Well-known blogger Alexander Lapshin commented to Alpha News on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement that the country might enter Israel the same way it had done in Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya.

According to him, Turkey is the main supporter of the radical Islamists Hamas in Gaza and supports the Lebanese organization Hezbollah.

“Erdogan does not like the fact that Israel has said that it will strike back hard against Hezbollah in Lebanon and that the strikes may be aimed at the capital Beirut, where Hezbollah’s headquarters, the main weapons storage facilities, the international airports, and, in fact, the ‘war command center’ against Israel are located.

Erdogan threatened Israel with an invasion, as in Artsakh and Libya. There is no point in even commenting on how absurd Erdogan’s statements are, because from here to Turkey is at least 700 km in a straight line, and to reach Israel, Turkey would have to occupy all of Syria and all of Lebanon. Let me remind you that Syria has been waging a war with the Kurds in the northern regions for decades, with varying success. So, Turkey has not even succeeded in resolving its border issues,” he noted.

According to Lapshin, opening a new front with Israel does not seem possible, given that Israel’s military potential is either equal to or superior to Turkey’s, in addition to its possession of nuclear weapons.

“Such threats, especially from the president of a country that is a NATO member against another country, a key ally of NATO and the United States, simply do not make sense. This is unrealistic. This looks like a real clown show. Why is Erdogan doing this?” he noted, adding that there could be two reasons for this.

Firstly, according to Lapshin, Erdogan has been undergoing cancer treatment for a very long time, and his disease may affect his mental abilities. Secondly, Erdogan is working for a domestic audience that “takes all this nonsense very seriously.”

“For Armenia, this means the following: for the first time in history, the President of Turkey openly admitted that Turkey captured Artsakh, fought against the Armenian Armed Forces in Artsakh, despite the fact that it has always denied its participation in the 44-day war. Azerbaijan also stated this, assuring that the Azerbaijani troops fought independently, without the participation of any mercenaries from the Middle East and, especially, the Turkish army. But we always knew that the Turks fought, and today Turkish President Erdogan himself admitted that. I can imagine how uncomfortable the Azerbaijani propagandists and President Aliyev feel in this situation,” he concluded.
