Georgy Mkrtchyan, a resident of Meghri, had a childhood dream: to build a garden and a house in his birthplace and live there.

“At the age of 23, I went to St. Petersburg, got married, but my childhood dream was to live here. After retirement, I agreed with my wife that she should come too. But when I saw that she had no intention of coming, I came here and started working. I’m still working. My work record lists 35 different jobs—I’ve worked everywhere,” he said.

He noted that Armenia lacks strong leadership capable of uniting its people.

Touching upon the peace agreement, Georgy Mkrtchyan said, “The agreement shouldn’t be signed by request, it should be bilateral. Today, the Armenian leader says that if there is no fighting, the bar should be lowered. By how much? The November 9 agreement stated, ‘The parties are standing where they were at the time of signing the statement’, yet they reached Kapan airport, entered Jermuk…”
